I posted two weeks ago about my temp gauge showing hotter after I installed the grill. Wasn't it. I forgot that I also put a new sending unit in at the same time. Removed the grill and temp still showed hot. Thermometer in the radiator showed water temp at 170, soooooo, my question is, why would one sending unit read hotter on the guage than another?
 
There are different senders, some of which are designed for the older gauges that ran straight 12v and some designed for use with the voltage stabiliser in the gauge circuit that essentially "maintains" a constant 10v (gives sort of a "damping" effect on temp and fuel gauges). Perhaps you got the wrong sender?
 
The original Triumph part number for the correct sender is 137705. Maybe you can cross reference that to a newer number. The Roadster Factory has superseded that number to GTR 110.

Guess I will have to check. I use a voltage stabilizer, was unaware there was a difference. Of course there is!!
