Thinking about either rebuilding or having my GT6 engine rebuit.
Any body have any recomendations on the best places to get pistons (forged would be great), rings, rods, bearings etc?
Also anyone who has any recommendations as far as bore etc. , any suggestions would be welcome.
Last thing, and this is a long shot, are there any "stroker" kits for these engines?
Thanks ahead of time!

Hi Mikey,

Try https://www.britishframeandengine.com/

Ken will most likely have the items your are seeking, or can get them.

Discuss what you are planning with him, too. I'm sure he'll be able to offer some good advice.

Aside from that, I recommend seeing if there is a book by Roger Williams dealing with improving GT6 (I know he's written one covering TR6, but I'm not sure about the GT6, tho). He goes into lots an dlots of detail on engine modifications and recommendations, depending upon how the owner wants to use the car. Information is very current and he interviewed many of the Triumph specialists in England to gather information.

Cheers!

Hi again Mikey,

Another possibility came to mind, although I've not had any dealings with them as yet.

Check out Performance Research Industries www.prirace.com

They are located in Oregon and specialize in Spitfire & GT6.

Hope this helps!

Alan,
Thanks...these are both great sites!
I would highly recommend them to everyone...
Lots of stuff to think about.

UltimateQuestion,
You stated that the TR6 engine is actually a "stroked" GT6 engine. I've been trying to do a little research on that, and all I can find is that the rods are the same in both. Normally, or at least the stroker kits I am familiar with, used shorter rods to increase the piston travel...thereby increasing the combustion chamber size. Does the TR6 use shorter pistons?
Also, does that mean TR6 pistons are interchangeable?
The displacement of my GT6 is 1998cc, and the TR6 is 2498cc, but I can't find anything on the specific HP and Torque....any ideas?
Last question is will a TR6 header fit on a GT6?
Anyone chime in if you know...many thanks ahead of time!!
Mikey
