I really craved one of these when I was a young man in the late 70s and early 80s, they are truly beautiful cars. They have crept up a little bit, but for a while they were about as cheap as Sprites and Midgets and quite a bargain.

Looks like a nice car.

I am about 1 hour away......let me know if anyone wants a look....

phew, those pics make me feel better about the money i'm still throwing at my gt6. i think i'll be at 6,000 with a complete rolling chassis. plus millions of hours of my time, which i count as free still. she is in very nice shape for a daily driver though, assuming it does indeed run.

I'm curious as to why you say that? I grew up on Heralds and Spitfires and never really missed the lack of an overdrive. Granted, fuel was cheaper then.

But I also spent many years and many, many miles, first in a GT6+ and later in a GT6 Mk3; I never felt either car suffered for lack of the OD. Compared to the Herald and Spitfire (better part of 4000 rpm @ 60 mph), the six is positively LAZY on the highway: approximately 3000 rpm @ 60 mph. Nothing wrong with that at all!

Again, I will say that, in this era of exponentially rising gas prices, anything to save gas would be nice, including OD.

Note: I've long felt the say way about most of the big TRs, since I never thought my TR3A needed OD, either.

I always enjoyed having the O/D., when I had my GT6.
4th gear seemed to be a bit winney at higher speeds till I engaged the O/D, then ya hit 70mph @ 32k,
but I used to drive much faster 20 years ago then I do now!

btw: just got back from chalking up about 125 miles on the TR6

Beautiful day in New England!! saw about 6 different LBC's

I will admit that O/D would be nice on the GT6 but not absolutely required. Driving my '70 GT6+ the 996 miles home from Denver had it turning 4100 RPM (75MPH) for hours on end. Once at speed and rolling along I didn't notice the higher revs so much. I do really notice the lack of a fifth gear during daily driving though, accelerating down the on ramp, I keep reaching over for another gear.
As for fuel efficiency, I was pleasntly surprised to find that over the 996 mile trip I averaged just over 36 mpg.
