Hi guys hope everyone's having a good day. Quick question, can I swap a noon to be good to your six gearbox into a GT6?

If you're looking for a drop in, bolt up interchange, the answer is not interchangeable between the two. On the other hand, I'm sure that with enough time and effort it can be done but that raises the question of "why?"

TDSkip, OK, how bad do you need this fit. The frame at the firewall has to be banged and clanged or cut and welded as the 6 bell housing is much larger. You will need to either cut the bell housing off the 6 box or get the rear plate from a TR6. Then the starter might give issues. The clutch slave is going to be really tight. The GT6 bell housing will need to be drilled to match.
Why not a 5 speed out of a Ford or Toyota, size wise a better idea.

I thought it being winter here and we set around thinking of stuff to do didn't effect you SoCal fellas.

Thanks guys, appreciate the reality check. As to why the question in the first place I found a local GT6 that has a good engine but bad trans and I have several good TR6 boxes in the garage.

Not sure this deal is going to come together but maybe time for a 5 speed swap

Dskip, Just to save you a lot of look up. The Gt6 transmission and the Spitfire share so much in common that if the gears on the GT6 are not banged up, chips, pitting and reverse in one piece. Not that bad on prices to rebuild one. Lots of decent Spit boxes around for sycrho hubs and rings. Easy to rebuild, a press is nice and helps, but pullers will work.

I have a GT6+ With one in it currently. It works just fine. I didn't do the swap it was done by a previous owner. The tabs on the tail shat of the tr6 have been removed and a custom mount was made. no frame mods were done either. So it is doable and it appears to bolt right up to the GT6 motor. I also don't have the tunnel cover installed so I don't know if that'll fit or not.
