Grrrrrr... Stupid *expletive* water pump

Ok, so, I got the new bolt from Wedgeparts this morning, and I get the pump put back together again, and I put the cover over the water pump, and it's rubbing. I mean, it's not much. Probably 1/16" too high. I tried turning the engine over by hand in case the pump hadn't fully seated. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm also wondering about the body wiring. On my 76 it looks like BL used the same harness for the LH and RH drive cars (The pigtails for the rear fog and seat switch, etc are all there). Anyone know? That's not really super important, I just got to wondering about it to-day while I was de-mousing my TR7 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

OK -- I assume you have the 3 gaskets supplied with the pump? I needed to use all three on mine. I had the same problem at first and worked the pump back and forth down into the jackshaft gear. Put a little grease on it and use some light presure as you twist it back and forth.

You can also consider judiciously torquing the cover down without the gaskets in an attempt to seat the pump body.

Well, I've tried everything. I pulled it out and tried seating it again several times. I checked the little pit where the base of the pump rests in the block for debris (nothing but oil in there). I am completely stumped.

Hurrah. I got it in there. I pulled the impeller off and had to force the brass cage in a little bit more.

New question. Do those gaskets go in dry or with some Permatex (probably the #2 non-hardening)? I got em from Wedgeparts, thay're the blue waxy feeling kind.
