I was just going through all my pics of 7's and 8's and came across a few of a Grinnall. I may be about to extend this project another 6 months or so but I think i'm going to break out the clay and all my metal working tools and a little fiberglass and build a replica.

I am already going crazy with the drivetrain and suspension, I may as well do the same with the body.

What do you guys think of the Grinnall? Have I totally lost my mind?

I have seen a lot of pictures of those conversions. I think they look ok, but I like the lines of the TR7 body, and those cars only have a passing resemblence to what they started as.

I'm no TR7 purist, but I prefere body modifications that work with the origonal styling.

I know what you mean and that is the main reason I decided against using the Morspeed bumpers from British American Motors. With the Grinnall, the only parts of the body untouched are the hood and windshield frame but I love the overall look. The bumpers from Morspeed would look good if they flowed with the body but they make the car look wrong. I think the Grinnall flows well and looks right.

I look at the Grinnall as a car seperate from the TR7. I dont really think of what Grinnall did as a body modification and more of him creating a new car using the TR as a platform and though I love both, I prefer the Grinnall. It still retains the wedge shape but has some kick ass flares.
 
TR7/8 TPI,

I am not a fan of the wedge styling at all. I say go with the Grinnall modifications they make the car look pretty cool.

Looks good, I hope you are good with fiberglass. I'm sticking with the Group 44 kit. Lanocha says 9 inch front and 12.5 inch rear tires fit under the flares. That should work.

What can I say I like my cars the same way I like my women curvy and sexy. The wedge sadly is neither of those things. I prefer the styling of my spit.

waltesefalcon - BOOOOO! I love the wedge, even now it still looks cool and draws glances.

I'm not a big fan of that. It looks too different. And the taillights don't look good.
