Hi Folks, I am Hans R Herren, owner of a red 1974 Spitfire......I live in Capay, California, on a fruit and berry farm and vineyard...all fairly small, 10 acres total...enough to keep me busy with a Foundation in Switzerland and leading an international NGO based in DC...While a student in Switzerland, I always dreamed of owning a Spitfire (or the GT6), this became reality only many years later after In settled in Capay and found a Spitfire in Sacramento. I enjoy driving the small roads from here to Highway 1 and the up and down the beautiful CA coast....and also keeping working on the Spitfire....there is always something to fix or clean.

Welcome to BCF. You're lucky to live in such a beautiful driving area, and especially to be able to come home to fruit trees and vineyards!

I live in a house built in 1730, and like you, there's always something to fix or clean!

My browser doesn't recognize the attachment on your post, so I can't download or open it. Could you post a photo (jpg) of your Spitfire?

Good to have you with us.
Tom M.

welcome indeed and a very interesting life! I converted the pic

absolutely beautiful picture , the car ain’t too shabby either ! Unfortunately there’s no Pennine / Bernini alps in the mix or “Miss-Swiss“ , something to keep your eye off the car ! Been there several times riding my M/G (Moto Guzzi motorcycle) but would like to return this year with my 75’ MG Midget , but never saw any British cars there ….. could be problematic .
I highly recommend some cardboard under the vehicle to catch the unscheduled inevitable oil discharge ……… just a thought !

yes thanks, plenty winding broads between Capay and the North Coast...but it would be great to drive on these scenic roads in the Swiss Alps

What exactly is the attachment he posted?
Looks like an HEIC, which is a proprietary iPhone (Apple) image format. I think had he added it as a picture (used insert image icon) instead of adding it as just an attachment, it should have showed up in the post normally. Here is an .HEIC image posted as "insert image" vice using the "attach files" button.

(In the above image I uploaded a .HEIC file but the software (forum) seems to convert it to .jpg)
