Having read Basil's welcome message, here's a post! I purchased a 1971 MGB in October 2004 and have begun work to get it roadworthy. So far I've done a good deal of work on the ignition system, replaced the exhaust and begun brake work. I'm sure I'll run into all sorts of stuff along the way (like the stupid grease caps inside the splined hubs....) and look forward to what everyone has to offer. If you care to see my car and read about my progress (or lack thereof), feel free to check out my site dedicated to the car.

Gabe

Welcome to the asylum, er, I mean forum! You will find lots of MGB fans here ready and willing to help you!

Cheers,
Basil

Welcome Gabe (from another New Jerseyan).

Nice MGB. I don't know about you, but I'm sick of Winter and am looking forward to nice Spring weather (took a long, top-down drive in my Miata Friday).
If you are free, don't forget the Moss Britfest (in NJ) on May 7. If I didn't have a race that day (at Pocono), I'd be there.

Welcome! You have found a great forum packed with all sorts of interesting tidbits and a great bunch of people

Welcome Gabe (from a former New Jerseyian, now a Pennsylvanian).

As a "newbie" MG owner, I've gotten lots of good advice and information from this forum.

Aeronca65t mentioned BritFest in May. There's also the 10th Annual Red Mill British Car Day in Clinton NJ in June.

I'm not sure how far from eastern PA you are, but you might want to check out the Keystone Region MG Club's show on June 12:

Welcome! I have a '70 that that is in the middle of a ground up restoration. I live just up the throughway from you in Albany, NY.

Hey Gabe -
Welcome! I too am a newbie restoring my B (a 76 roadster). Now living in NYC, but a NJ-ite for most of my life. This site is filled with great people and great info. Enjoy!

Greetings Gabe:

Love the color of the "B"! You will find that there is a "NUT" behind every wheel here, especially the LBC's.

I have had my "B" for 18 years. I figure I went in to this marriage with it, I will come out of this marriage with it.

All humor aside, I have found this forum best for any British Car Enthusiast for information, and "hints" as to what could happen with the "Lord of Darkness" (why negative ground earth, I will never be able to figure).

Have yerself a good time as a lot of car fanatics are here to be enjoyed, post as much as you want, spin around 3 times, click your heels ,keep it clean, then come out fighting!

Dave

Nice car, nice site. I like the comics you link to.

Welcome.

Congratulations,

Looks as though you've made quite a bit of progress so far and will have a great little car when you've finished ( just kidding - you never really finish).

I was looking through your gallery - I don't recall seeing that clock set up before, is orginal?

Have a great time here.

Thanks for welcome everyone. Looks like some nice weather tomorrow so I'll be out there doing something on it. Anyone have any ideas how to get a stuck wheel nut off? The car has wire wheels and the right front nut refuses to budge.

I have no idea about the clock. I've been too busy worrying about the mechanicals to look at the interior. It is sort of a pain in the neck as it isn't really visible while driving and blocks the stuff below the radio. Of course it doesn't work so why worry about visibility?

Ahh. A '71. I'd love to have a '71.
(someday)

Welcome aboard. You won't find a better bunch anywhere.

A little heat might help also - BUT - watch out for fires if using the penetrating stuff! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Spray the #$@%$^ out of it with penetrating oil and let it sit for a while....BTW welcome to the forum you've come to the right place!
