I bought a wifi extender so I can get tube vids in my studio. It's almost 1/10th of a mile from my house and my router fell 15 feet short of where I needed to be. The phone Co wanted $90 to run a jack even though they did $1500 worth of damage spraying toxic chemicals to kill the trees on my property. Anyway, it looks like it's working for now. We'll see if it changes. I barely got a connection on the extender which is out here w/ me. The barn is half way and I probably could put the extender in there but conditions aren't optimal for indoor electronics in there.

So much for that. Once I moved the modem back where it belonged POOF, gone.

Well, dig a trench and run some cat 5 to it

Try coming up here and "digging" a trench through our rocks, I mean, soil. On the plus side, the fossil hunting is great.

Got the wire (pronounced "wor" here) and dug a trech with an old piece of steel bolted to the frame of the Exmark. I only trenched from the house to the fenceline. The fence line is wooded so I just ran the wire across the ground. This is the HD wire the phone co buries underground so it should be fine exposed. It had already been outside so long the wooden spool completely rotted and fell apart when I picked it up and the wire still looks brand new. I'm having to bury it on my hands and knees...it's HOT today so I'm done for now. At least I got the wire pulled and about 20' of 100' buried. Leaves and what not will bury the rest once I get the last 80'.

Phone wire won't work ,Billy

I mean
Phone wor won't work

The phone guy said it would. It's the same stuff I have run to the house. Matter of fact, this post came through the same stuff.

Then it's not phone wor.
It's cat5 minimum
Phone is cat3 and not enough wors in that to do inernet

Oh, that's a different product all together

O.K, so i'm all wired up and need a modem for out here in the studio (I'm in it now). I call the phone co and say I need another modem, to my surprise they say they'll send me another, I can get up to 4 a year cause we pay for equipment "insurance". ????? Uhhhh, o.k.... So it gets here and I go to hook it up. I plug in and all that, type in the password for it and it wants me to set up new service, asks for account stuff that I have no clue what it is. I call the "help" number. I tell ol' boy what's up, I already have sevice and an account, I just need this thing to work which it does..but it doesn't. He says I can't run two at the same time even if I'm only using one at a time. (which doesn't make sense cause I have three phones in my house and only use one at a time.) I explain why I need both. He doesn't understand even though I explained it several times. Then he hit me with, "oh, did the agent tell you you'll have to return the old one?" Of course they never said that and of course I got the current one without having to return the old one. I then did what any logical person would do, I promptly hung up. I'll just carry the one from inside out here when I need to even though I really shouldn't have to seeing I've paid $2000 on this "insurance" since we've gotten this line. We will be canceling that soon and if it was up to me, I'd axe the whole thing.
