Learned to drive in a '74 MG Midget and thought it would be fun to get into one. Then I liked the badge on the Sprite. Got on the elevator. Bought the BJ8 mid-pandemic, sight unseen, putting my trust in an unknown inspector. Pulled like a charm from Idaho to Victoria BC to Seattle. 800 miles without a hitch. The next weekend couldn't make it 17 miles to a Healey meet. Starter failed after a stop. Got going with a push. Next the generator failed, causing the coil to explode (or vice versa, who knows), taking out half the electricals. All sorted out now. Being an optimist I can hardly believe my luck to have made it across three states, into Canada and back with no problem, and then have at least a fifth of my imminent failures happen so close to my local shops. I should have bought a lottery ticket.
