Hello all! I recently stumbled across this forum after taking possession of my father’s 1960 Triumph TR3A (TS61346). He purchased it and a several piles of parts and boxes of another TR3 from a friend in the mid-1970’s. I’d say that ‘we’ restored it and got it back on the road, but I wasn’t much more help than holding the trouble light in the evenings of our single car garage while he worked. Another family friend helped paint it where it sat, and the TR was back on the road in time to be the vehicle in which I learned to drive in the mid 80’s. Life got in the way, and the Triumph sat until about 2012. The mechanicals were redone by a reputable PA Triumph repair shop, but shortly after its (dare I say) triumphant return, my father’s back and mind began to slip. So once again the little car sat. And waited. And now after about a decade of rest, the little car now sits in my garage. A new battery, some fresh fuel, and she roared back to life. The body is a solid 40 footer, as chips and scratches abound, and the 1970’s bondo seems to be making a break for freedom in places, and some design choices by my father might cause some to scratch their heads (side mirrors mounted on the doors, not on the front fenders), but I can’t wipe the smile from my face when the engine starts and I pull out of the garage. Lots of memories, and with some help (okay, lots of help) from this forum and others, I’m hoping the car stays on the road this time.
