green stuff with mounting kit

it came with a mounting kit for the rear cylinders.
 
Usually it's a light grease used under the parking brake pivots behind the wheel cylinder. You should also apply some in the rubber boot where the paking brake lever exits.
 
I've also used it along the brake shoe edges where they ride against the brake drum.

Don't you mean against the backing plates? The shoE edges really don't contact the drum and putting it the the OUTSIDE of the show might cause the drum to sling it onto the shoe surface...????
