Re: RESULTS-Grassroots Challenge $2006-This weeken

A Ford Escort.

The Spridget has taken an awful beating in EMRA club-racing and I'd like to reserve it for vintage racing only. Our EMRA races are never cancelled due to rain and a car with a roof and wipers would be much nicer (we've had a number of super-rainy events in the last few years).

I put the word out that I was looking for something small and cheap to race and I ended up with two free, decent Escorts.
HERE'S ONE... and HERE'S THE OTHER.

Free works well for me and makes the $2007 Challenge an easy goal.

I have no hopes of actually winning the Challenge, but since I'm building a race car anyway, it would be a fun event to have a go at. The Escort will be set up for club-racing, with a cage, harnesses and fully gutted. I just got some free 7" wide rims and I have a source of cheap/free race tires.
The only thing I'd add for the Challenge would be a low-cost nitrous kit.
Several of my students have expressed interest....that would be a nice bonus if I got some of them involved too. THREE OF MY STUDENTS entered the $2004 Challenge with a Mitsu Eclipse and finished 5th overall.
