Grant steering wheel adapter and/or alternative??

I picked out a Grant steering wheel and a Grant adapter (TR6) but I dont like the way the grant adapter looks and it makes the steering wheel stick out about 1" more than stock. What experiences does anybody have with the Grant adapter and what alternatives are there? I like the GT Grant wheel and would like to keep it.

I used a grant gt wheel on a past TR6 and thought it was fine. I went with the 14 inch vs. the 15 inch to give a little more room between the legs and wheel.I cannot recall what the adaptor looked like, maybe a Triumph decal over what is there now?

I have a grant GT on my Spitfire and I love the wheel and hate the adaptor. I've considered machining the face where the wheel mounts and re-drilling and tapping the holes but it doesn't look like there is enough metal to go down as far as I want to go. I'm going to have to do something soon, as I'm putting a rollbar in this winter and that means my seat will need to come foward about 2". I can deal with my knees hitting the dash but not my elbows hitting the door and my passenger! Hopefully someone out there has some advice for both of us.
