There's going to be a war.

Dahubby thinks he needs to put Emma's 4 synchro overdrive into Binabox ('66, non-synchro). That's just NOT going to happen. Seems 'the guys' in the car club at 'guys night' Monday thought this would be a great idea.

NOT going to happen in MY lifetime.

Wouldn't that give you additional leverage to 'appropriate' Binabox once it's complete?

"Dear, I just can't drive the nonsynchro box you put in Emma, I'll just start driving the other"

Nope. That isn't even an issue.

Won't fit! What kind of guys you got in your club, Janel?

Binabox has a smaller transmission tunnel & the engine is setup differently...so, to put a later transmission in her, you're going to have to cut & whack Binabox's transmission tunnel plus you're going to have to change out the bearing in the rear of the engine (maybe more)

....IMHO

I know that Tony. We have people in the club that have 'great' ideas and are superb at spending other people's money.

It's a non-issue, because I will sell Emma's overdrive in a heartbeat before it goes in Binabox.

Sawzall's what it'll take.

On dahubby?

I'm annoyed, but I'm not THAT annoyed!

No, to put the late OD in the early car - sawzall's what it'll take!

And a heat wrench to knit it all back up! Too much bother.

Janel, dosn't DaHubby know that is a 75/25 union? DaHubby being 25%. Just let him know the facts of life, you know, he gets to sleep on the couch for a while. This is really an easy solution, when he feels frisky, do this /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonono.gif.

Janel Bobbit?

Don't worry, Janel. You will win! Hey, I really don't have to worry too much about my Liz thinking up things to do; she's not into anything but her looks right now.

Ahh, smart girl. It's all about style.

I don't think any cutting is required. Just a little tunnel pounding with a BFH. My '67 has an LH-Type unit in it and I don't see any major modifications to the tunnel. I would still prefer a 3-sync unit though!

Steve - how'd you modify the top of the tunnel so the later gear shift lever fit correctly?

Dunno, I didn't do it! The previous owner did. I would be happy to crawl under and snap photos if you like.

EDIT: Come to think of it, the later shifter should line up only 1/2" - 1" behind the early one. So all you have to do is turn the shift boot around backwards.

early one is also much higher...do you still have the early 'hump' in your tranny tunnel?
