It would appear that gout has set in after I stepped on a nail a month ago. My sis worked for a podiatrist. I called her and she said it sounds like gout. One of the symtoms is possibly kidnet stones...which I've been spitting out like a MG42.

Gout....this is crazy !!!!

Didn't the English get gout allot on the voyage over, or is that something else?

I think that's scurvy, due to lack of vitamin C that you're talking about. Gout was regarded back then as the disease of kings or "rich man's disease". I guess from their perceived indulgences.

Ain't no kin o' mine. Gout does not run in the fambly, boy!

I aint rich and I aint drivin' a Jag. You should have it bad then Pops !!!!

Took so ibuprophin per internet and it's doin' LOADS better.

Aint spittin' out stone no more neither.

Man that stuff hurts, both of 'em!!!

Been there, done that. I'm on my feet all day and it will kill you. The doctors say too much red meat. They make some pills for gout, but the cure is worse than the disease. " Take twice daily until onset of diarrhea." :eeek: Ummmmm, thanks but no thanks!!! :nonono:

Gout - gotta avoid PURINES! Gout is a form of arthritis, and purines exacerbate the condition, look it up, they're in shellfish, some meats, etc. Mostly, foods that are bad for you anyway. Alcohol is your worst enemy with gout, sadly.

Used to call it the "rich man's disease", because only rich people could afford to eat rich foods.

Doctors will give you pills to help it, but your diet is probably the cause. In practically all cases, it can be controlled by diet. Not hard, really, considering the options. I had a couple of episodes, changed my diet: no problems for several years now and I lost weight and healthier, too.

Exquisite pain, nothin' like it. Ouch! I couldn't even let the bed sheet touch my toe, it hurt so badly that I was sure it was broken. No fun at all.

Pretty much curable nowadays, if you're careful.

Good luck . . . :yesnod:

Had it years ago (and kidney stones more recently). The meds they prescribe to break up the gout crystals is the nasty stuff - serious bowel issues. But the medicine that they gave me to keep them from coming back never bothered me at all, and it was a lot better than giving up red meat (never! :nonod: ) or having gout attacks.

but you did stay at a holiday inn express

I don't eat allot of red meat. I don't think the stuff in frozen chimichangas is even considered meat, much less red. Mom says two other family members have/had trouble w/ it. Alfalfa sprouts are supposed to be the ticket. You sure are right about the pain. I don't mind the pain as much as the fact I can't walk. I told the wife I can't live like this. At least it aint on my clutch foot.

My dad's got it. He says a doc gave him something -- I seem to recall injection -- and the relief was instantaneous. He continues to take some pills to prevent recurrence and so far, so good. He described whatever it was as both, miraculous and gout-specific. If it ain't gout this stuff won't do anything for you. If it works, then it's definitely gout. Ask your doc...
