Gotta sell my 4

Well it's really crunch time!. I'm required by the village law to remove (or otherwise hide) my unlicenced car by this saturday. That will be the 30 days since they cited it. I don't have a plan yet. I've been trying to sell it with no luck. It's a running driving TR4A solid axle for $1200 and nobody wants it.
Well, I still want it, but I really can't keep it. I still gotta pay for my TR2,(my dad lent me the money, Thanks dad!) and the 2 took the 4s spot in the garage.
so if there's anyone out there who's intrested, now's the time!
My friend will let me park it at his shop for a short while, outside, but that only buys me a little time.
I'd probably try to keep it if it wasen't for the family loan.
See my ad in the classified section if you're intrested.

I sent ya an email.

I've looked at the pics of your car about one hundred times trying to figure out how I could fit it in my garage ... I even know that its only 459 miles from where I'm sitting right now.

I sure would like to help, but I guess I need to build that bigger garage first.

Matt

Just measure your 6. They're almost identical in dimensions. And it sounds like we're almost identical in dementions. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif
I was toying with one of those car port tents, but I think the wife would draw the line. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif

Banjo:

You're not making it any easier to say no ... I just went out to the garage with a tape measure, the TR6 is about 13 ft. long and 5 ft. wide. Sure doesn't sound very big ...

As for the dementia, I have a buddy who has 3 Spitfires, a GT6, a Stag, and is happily married. I use him as my insanity gauge, as he appears sane to the outside world.

Two words

I promise I'll stop now. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif
some people spend thier whole lives trying to keep thier sanity. What they don't realize is that being slightly insane is soooo much more fun.(and less stressfull) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazyeyes.gif

Thanks, guys for the intrest. There's nothing solid yet, so I called the local paper for a classified. It starts tomorrow. (this is the second try in the paper. First time was at $2000.)
Here's hoping!
I guess I aimed a little high on the price. I think that my problem is that I'm trying to sell a car I really don't want to sell. And I feel it's worth more than it really is. It's given me every cent worth of what I have invested in it in enjoyment. But it's time.

Banjo, thanks for the pics you sent me of the car...I also got the link to the extra pics to work....I will get back to you but need some time.

Thanks

Well here's the latest.
The TR4A is in the garage (out of sight of the zoning officer)for right now
I had to put the BMW outside. But it has to get put in before the snow starts to build up. My inlaws have granted me a temporary parking spot for the BMW until the TR4 sells.
So I've bought some time.
I'm re-running the newspaper ad, and have had a few people stop by and see the car, but nothing solid yet.
Oh well. I guess it's the wrong time of the year.
It'll sell eventually, or I'll part it out and use the motor and tranny in my TR2 project. The thing runs great. and that would probably save me the same amount as I'm trying to get from the 4
hmmmmm....

It's really not a bad car for the money...if I didn't have to transport it I wouldn't hesitate to give you what your asking for it, even if it would take me forever to get to working on it...I am sure someone will buy it, everything takes time....I'd hate to see a complete, running TR4 parted out there getting pretty hard to find...especially around here...theres one in the local autotrader right now for almost $30,000! Thats alot for a TR4, in my opinion, but it is at a well know dealer so I guess they know what their doing. I had my LE advertised forsale in the paper a few times and at some carshows but didn't get all that much action..I guess it was mostly becasue as far as MGB's go I was up in the higher price range...Like you I really don't want to sell the car so I guess that doesn't help either,so for now she's stayin with me.

There is a link to an online gallery from my ad in the classified section of this site. If that dosen't work, I can email you some pics.
I have a transferrable N.Y. registration. That is what older cars in New York get instead of an actual title.
This car was licenced to me and on the road for a few years.
So, Yes. As far as N.Y. (and any other state for that matter) is concerned I have a title.
Does the "Last Open Road" sticker across the top of the windscreen count as a "title" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You live in Horse - what? N.Y.
I think I would move to someplace less restrictive.

I'd love to rant about what I think of this village, but this is a family forum.
Trust me, If I could afford to move right now, I would.
I have about a quarter of an acre, with a 20x20 garage, and a bottomless desire to drag home every orphaned LBC I come across for next to nothing.
I need an old farm, with a big barn.
(breaks into song) Give me land, lotsa land, and those starry skies above, doooon't tag my cars! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I'm in agreement about the town name too /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
In all reality, It's not that bad of an area around here. Just right in town....

Ben,
Is there perchance anywhere (or anyone) that offers cheap storage or covered parking up by you? I know it's rending down here - the best quote I got was for $200 a month 6 months in advance just under 50 miles away - but it might be a little more reasonable up by you. It's anathema to pay for parking I know but it's just a thought.

The problem is my budget is exactly $0000
I can't afford storage for anything. I'm sure I could come up with something if I looked hard enough, but I really need the $$$ from the 4 to kick off the 2 project (including finishing paying for it)
If there was any way to not have to sell it, I'd be trying hard to find storage
Anybody in the upstate N.Y. area need a ton of work done on thier LBC? Body or mechanical?
Maybe I could save the TR4A by doing some side work. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
