Got the car on the road today

Took the obligatory ride with the hood off and no windshield. I think we scared a few neighbors...

Had some excitement:

Immediately dropped the camera and bent the lense housing, so no photos to add for a while.

Smoke coming out of the high torque starter. My son stood by with the fire extinguisher. Think it was the machine oil burning off the new ring gear. I thought my expanding it on the gas grill would have taken care of that...

Couldn't get into any gear. Eventually had to back the master cylinder rod out almost to the stop, which seems to have solved the problem. I didn't know you could have too much throw...

Timing light reset itself from 28 BTD advance to 0 while adjusting the distributor. Almost locked in the wrong setting.

Still working on the weber.

Love the 1275.

Great day!

sorry about the camera, other than that sounds like a big step. it takes a lot of debugging on project builds until you have the confidence to take a drive accros town, congratulations.

Oh yeah I wasn't comfortable until I could drive around for a 100 miles straight. I still carry a tool bag, cell phone and my AAA card, but with 1,200 miles on the build I don't hesitate to drive it anywhere now.

Well done! There's nothing like getting a car on the road. Big smiles all around.
