I unfortunately caught the British car bug when I was around 12 when my dad bought my brother a 1970 gt6+. A short two years later and I was able to buy a 1963 triumph spitfire at the ripe age of 14. I had big dreams of getting it running by the time I was 16 to drive around in high school like my brother had driven his. With lots of hard work an engine swap, a complete rewiring of the car, and multiple stuck / broken bolts later the it was running. Over the years I hunted down the original bucket seats and wire rim wheels to make it more complete. Capet change and a new top was put on. At one point a 1962 Triumph Herald Saloon was bought with the intention of stealing the motor out for the spitfire. By the time we made it home with the car we decided my dad needed his own Triumph so we left it alone and let him drive it around so we could all have one. A 65 spitfire was obtained at some point with the intention of making a spitsix out of the GT6. Big dreams came to a standstill as life got in the way. The car now sits disassembled and ready for someone else with big dreams to take it away and rebuild it. Recently after parking the spitfire for 11 years I pulled it out of storage. Ran a new fuel line as it rotted out and she started right back up. Priorities have changed over the years as well as life. My brother passed away a few years back and his GT6 has been parked since roughly 2011. Current goal is to clean up the 65 project car and find it a new home so I can bring the GT6 home. Spitfire will also likely be finding a new home so money can be prioritized to get the GT6 running again. I always liked the GT6 a little more than I did my own spitfire. Something about the 6 cylinder and hard top sporty look that gets me excited.
