When I turned on my computer this am and any thing I searched for came up with the site and a note underneath it that "this site may harm your computer". Is this a ploy by Google to update to Google chrome?

same here using FireFox

Weird. I used Google all morning and never got the "harm" message. But my neighbor called me about an hour ago and said he *did* get the harm message from a Google search.

I was using Safari; he was using IE.

Is the "harm" message actually a Google page? Or is it from your computer's browser? or from an anti-virus or anti-spy app? or ...?

Thanks.
Tom

Interesting - got some answers:

hm.

I missed it. Used Google earlier this AM and as recently as half an hour ago and never saw the warning.

I'd have bet it was an "anti-spyware trojan" had I seen it, tho. There have been increases in the "Peacomm" and/or Storm invasions of late, too.

It was a glitch within google's site. They fixed it in a few hours and everthing went back to normal.

They have offered their apologies to the websites that were affected by that message.

A simple typing error brought Google's search engine to a grinding halt. Kind of scary to think that one individual could bring down the entire operation. I bet there are some programming and policy changes going on. But, then maybe not.

Ray - the online banking and bill paying site I've used for years has been kerflooey and useless all morning. Kerflooey - highly technical internet term - means "not good".

We are *so* dependent on the 'net working smoothly, we'll be in a peck o' trouble when/if it stops.
