I just tried using the Google Maps and discovered it is now "new and improved".

Excuse my cynical attitude but the old Google Maps was elegant and efficient. Now it seems a mess (to me, at least).

I seem to run into this sort of thing a lot these days when it comes to software. It seems as though some of the software guys love to keep "improving" things until they are ruined. Windows 8 comes to mind.....

Along with the Windows Ribbon.....

Anyway, I haven't used this site in years, but I'm switching back to ~MapQuest~ now (until they ruin that!).
 
Agree with you there!

I keep thinking - the folks at Google Maps (etc.) have to do something to show they're earning their salaries. Thus, the constant "updates, upgrades, and improvements".

We poor end-users are stuck trying to figure it all out - usually with little or no documentation.

I like Google maps, but I agree that this latest upgrade is horrible. The stupid thing in the upper left hand corner keeps dropping down and the pictures on the bottom are useless. Streetview is incredible, though, and I don't think MapQuest has that.

Have you seen this site? It allows you to 'drive' a section of road using google maps and streetview.

Just used Google maps last night and it was still the same old look for me (Firefox/XP) so maybe it's a progressive "upgrade"?

Agree on Windows 7/8. I'm can do everything I need with XP except one of my must have software packages as of the 2013 version will no longer work with XP. That means a little over $6K to upgrade computer, MS software, 3D mouse, and CAD. All with nearly zero increase in my efficiency. And that's just the one workstation. If it doesn't play with my network any nicer than my wife's 7 does then I'll probably be a bit grumpy for a while. :grumpy:
 
I've always used MapQuest. -------------------------------ME Too !! Basil--No body make it like they do.

Win 8 isn't too bad once you get use to it.:encouragement:
