Good news at last!!

Morris

I did another, much more scientific leak-down test tonight and discoverd that my new rings are holding strong. Turns out my new valve job was the source of my woes. The head is off now and it will soon be in the machine shop again. A DIFFERENT ONE THIS TIME!!!!!

Outstanding Morris, always nice when your own work is spot on.

That's good to hear, Morris -- at least your work was good. Though it makes me even more nervous about finding a good machine shop to do the work on my 1275.

Yes, good luck wih that Drew. Here's what I learned:

1) Cheaper is not better
2) You can't always rely on the reccomendations of experts
3) If the machine shop you are considering does not look as clean as a surgical theatre, walk away.

You are clearly way ahead of me on this one, but don't let your pocket book make the call for you!!!!!!

I'm saving up right now for the machine work I need -- it's going to take a while, I'm sure. The more I learn and hear about other folks' experiences, the more inclined I am to budget the extra cash and ship the block and head off to a real A-series pro like Hap.

Sure there's more cost upfront, but at least it's done right the first time.
