Good LBC mechanic in central MA?

Well, my TR3A has started making some nasty noises out of the differential. It whines quite loudly whenever I'm above about 10mph and not on the throttle. I checked the oil and it was low, so I filled it. No difference. That's about as far as I wanna go with it. I'm terrified of differentials ever since I tried to take one apart years ago. That didn't go so well /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif

So, anybody know somebody in Central MA that I could trust with a job like this? In the past I've used Little Foreign Car Garage in Waltham, but it's a bit of a distance from me and I don't really trust them anymore since they screwed up a tranny rebuild on a Spit a few years ago.

Call Erik at Her Majesty's Service in Swansea, MA. He does all of my heavy work, will be doing my frame. He owns several LBC's and knows these cars inside out. 508-379-9789.

He's also a favorite of the New England Triumph & Cape Cod Club members.

Thanks, Paul! Swansea is about an hour South of me, so I was hoping for something a little closer. But if all else fails...

Thanks, that's much closer! Is this Peter's contact info?

Another suggestion (but futher East) is Brian, at Accel Automotive, on Linden St in Waltham (Next door to the Aston Martin dealer!). Specializes in Alfas, but does LBCs also (had a TR3 in there when I bought in my Lotus for him to look over after I'd purchased it). Really nice guy, who knows his cars.

Well, I talked to Peter. Extremely nice guy. Said he'd be happy to look at the car, but he's totally booked up for at least the next three to four months. So I'll keep looking. Thanks for the suggestion of Accel Automotive, Rob. Still a bit of a distance for me but not as bad as Swansea.

Thanks Scott. Yeah, I've had them in the back of my mind. I know I can pull the differential and send it down to them, and if it gets late enough in the season I might just do that.

If you are going to pull the diff yourself, I would definately recommend Qantum also. Not sure how the shipping works with a solid axle/diff though. That's a big hunk of iron to mail!
