Good breaker sources?

Hey folks,

I'm looking for good breaker sources for my 1969 Austin-Healey Sprite project. I'm trying to bust this one out before Christmas, and I've not tried working at this pace in a few years. Right now, my biggest slowdown is finding used bits that aren't carried by the usual suspects.

It seems, that despite the overall good shape of the car there's at least one or two critical bits in each assembly that have gone south, so my list of things we need grows daily.

My preference would be for places in the US but I completely understand needing to order the occasional bit from the UK.

I do already have an email out to British Masters and I'm trying to avoid ebay.

Thanks!
Jody

I would just make a list and post want ads on various forums and mailing lists. I've found several things that way at very reasonable prices.

+1 - helps us know what we can share or where we might suggest you look.

Here's the list so far:

AHA 7080 - Right Hand side windscreen retainer strip. This is the piece that holds the rubber gasket to the outside right hand side of the windscreen.
AHA 5678 & AHA 5679 - Rear Bumper support brackets
AHA 5686 - Front bumper overrider (will rechrome so needs to be solid, but not necessarily spectacular chrome)
27H 5978 - Front turn signal lamps. Specifically we just need the bases.
AHA 8098 - Front grille assembly. Needs to be show quality or as close as possible.

The bumper overrider is the "fat" one. Correct?
Does AHA 7080 exchange with all roll up window cars?

Ashley Hinton has a new Stainless Steel Grille available. I like the looks of it. Comes from across the pond but everything he's done is of top quality.

Rear bumpers - Bugsy my '68 has shed pounds and looks better IMHO sans bumpers other than BE Overriders turned upside down(skinny side up) in the rear.

The Bumpers on a BE or Spridget don't do anything anyway. A little tap to the bumpers, especially in the rear, dramatically messes up that thin piece of sheet metal anyway. again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Jim,

Thanks for lead on the grille. Do you have a link or an email address for Ashley Hinton?

In regards to the bumpers, this car will be a stock restore. Any modifications, if necessary, will be inside the engine.

My experience with Ashley Hinton: Total waste of time to try do deal with him directly. Better results dealing with AH Spares. I think they carry all his stuff.

I parted out a '70 Midget and still have odds and ends around here. Nothing is show quality, most things are good/fair condition. All are cheap. Some might be free.

I think I have the turn signals, bumper brackets your looking for. Provided they are the same as a Midget made in November of '69. ( I don't know the idiosyncrasies of the HAN/GAN cars)

There's that Mathews Parts guy in AL that's on ebay. Maybe you could buy something direct. He seems kinda high on prices on somethings IMO.

(Then again, I'm a cheap bastage)

Ashley Hinton has a facebook page but I've also seen his stuff listed on E-Bay. I know he hangs out at SpriteSpot.com a lot as I've seen him comment there. He doesn't sell direct as he goes through the usual sources but then I see his what I assume are possibly prototypes showing up on E-Bay all the time. Google Ashley Hinton and send him a note. He has seemed fairly responsive to the needs of the Spridget community in coming up with product not previously available i.e SS Heater Vent flaps etc.

Here I just looked and found this on Sprite Spot
