gold cylinder head

This question's probably been asked and answered several times before but perhaps BCFers will indulge me.
Which models of the e-type/xke series 1 cars had the gold cylinder head? I've run across 3.8 and 4.2l engines with both painted and non-painted heads.
I realize some may have gotten "unpainted" during restoration but did some models come that way from the factory?
Thanks for the insight.
Jim

I believe all series 1 cars had gold heads, except for very early 3.8 cars which had a pumpkin color to the head.

Actually, I understand the color was PUMPKIN GOLD.
