I was sitting in the '95 Dakota, eating my lunch next to Humboldt Bay,
when I heard a weird noise.I realized that the city worker, using a weedeater,
had hit a rock or something, shattering the window on the extended cab part
of the truck.I still can't believe how much glass came from that.
They have insurance,& will take car of it.I told the supervisor, who returned,
after talking to the insurance company, that I'd called my lawyer,& thought that
they should buy me a new truck, with the "mental anguish",& all that kind of stuff.
He didn't buy it - can you believe that?
If nothing else,it got me to vacuum it out after too many months.

Good thing that rock wasn't a few feet further forward!

Yes! Your story reminded me of the time one of my father's co-workers was out for lunch - only to return to her (ground-floor) office with a broken window and a large chunk of the lawn sprinkler sitting just behind her chair.

Since then I always wear safety glasses while cutting the grass and make sure the kids are in the house.

That is the penalty for eating fast food!
the bad news is that they won't pay you for your time in getting the window replaced. I had a rock hit my newly restored TR3 windshield in the first week and put a crack from bottom to top. But I could not catch the truck that was in front of me.

Many years ago I was driving my 73 tr6 to cape cod to visit my then girlfriend now wife (of 34 years) on rt 95 (major highway) and watched a rock come across the highway directly into my windshield. I now always keep toilet paper in the car.

Line trimmers are terrible in that regard. I used to work for a landscaping company and at least a couple of times per season we had to pay for broken windows. I had it happen to me one time (not our landscape company), except my window was down and the rock hit me in my neck. To say I was slightly annoyed would be an understatement.

About five years ago my wife was driving home when the top of a sewer pipe was hurled into the side of her car. A woman was mowing her lawn and ran over the pipe with her riding mower sending it flying into the side of my wife's car. The woman's homeowners policy covered it since it happened on her property.
