My wife called me at work today and told me our Windstar died & she couldn't start it. We have towing insurance so I told her to have it towed home.

I came home early in my trusty Midget and tried starting the van.

It starts but the motor makes a very loud clacking like it has a broken rod or something.

Don't know what it is, but this is the second car this year for my wife. The Midget just keeps running...
 
I've never seen anyone fix a computer module with bailing wire or duct tape. I like Healeys!

Yeah, it'a like a 2 hour job replacing the module on the Windstar. You wouldn't believe all the stuff you have to remove to get to it.
First time it took well over twice that amount of time. The second time I knew what I was doing so it was "only" two hours. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wall.gif
 
Rick... you gotta stay away from anything with "Star" in the name. Or at least, stay away from anything made by Ford or GM.

I have a Dodge mini-van, and it's pretty easy to work on.

Does that include the old Oldsmobile Starfires & other "Star" cars from the 60's & 70's? hehehe
 
Actually I used to have an Aerostar.
It ran great, but at about 225,000 mile it was wrecked in a multi car pileup. I had just replaced the plugs too. Anyone who has ever done that on an Aerostar knows what I mean! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wall.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cryin.gif
