Black Holes!!!

Steven Weinberg's: "The First Three Minutes" is a Marvelous Toy.

I'm watching that on the Science Channel right now. That part about the probe going in had me scratchin' my head. If viewed from a distance, the probe would seem to stop and never enter the event horizon. If you see it stop, that implies it is visible. Now do that to a star and I'd think the black hole would just look like a star when the star freezes where time breaks down.

So then, with dozens or hundreds of stars, a massive black hole would appear as, umm, a blinding great furball at the center of a galaxy?
