Gift Wrapping Session...

Offline
I just finished a marathon Gift wrapping session here in the living room. I'm almost ready for a nap now.

My wife is gonna love getting to her gift /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif It's buried 6 boxes deep... each one wrapped and when you open it, there's another. hehehehehehhee. I would have done more, but I couldn't find another box that the biggest one would fit into. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Just got back from Walmart. Had to get "Special" Santa paper for the kids. The store was filled with a bazillion shoppers. I must be silly thinking I could just run in for it. Wrapping is done but for the special stuff.

I just came home but purchased some gift bags /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif Much simpler to use...

I made the mistake of going to Target yesterday. It took me about 30 minutes to find a parking spot. Once in, I found the gift I needed to get, and was out of the store in under 30 minutes, which was surprising given how long it took to find parking. Of course, on my way back out to my car, I must have seen 10 empty parking spots and no cars waiting to park. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Wrapped all the gifts I'm giving yesterday, too. Took notes from posts made on these forums, and did NOT tape the wrapping paper to the gift. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif So, my wrappings this year aren't as "tight" as they have been in years past. But that's ok. Most of the gifts were rectangular, so they were easy enough to wrap. However, I had one gift that was trapezoidal with concave edges, and convex on the two large faces of the package. The wrapping on that package turned out rather hideous compared to all the others... heh

Incidentally, I was watching my friend's 7 y.o. daughter last weekend, and she wanted to wrap a present for a friend. I watched her look for the wrapping supplies and got a kick out of watching wrap a ball. We couldn't find Scotch tape. So she grabbed the first roll of tape she laid eyes on ... Duct Tape /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif. She took this ball, placed it in a Chinese delivery container, taped it up with this Duct Tape, and proceeded to 'decorate' it by taping a pencil, a plastic soldier, and a 'wobbly eye' to the container.

Later, after putting the girl to bed, my friends got home, the mom started to criticize me for letting her daughter use something as ugly as Duct Tape to wrap a gift. To which I replied, "What's wrong with that? I'm teaching her the valuable lesson that you can do ~anything~ with a roll of Duct Tape. ~grin~ Besides, I didn't think it would matter because it's a Chinese take-out box, decorated with a plastic soldier, pencil, and a wobbly eye" ~chuckle~ At which point, the mom picked it up and really looked at the 'gift' with it's 'decorations', and she too began to laugh.

GREAT story!

I'm putting together a Radio Flyer rocking horse!

guys ... everything is wrapped and ready ... perhaps the first year for that accomplishment ... miller time! (really guinness) happy holiday!

I went to Wal-Mart yesterday around 10:30 am to get the wife's last present, a green ipod nano. The crowds were suprisingly sparse, especially in the electronics department. I wasn't in the store more than 20 minutes.

Now, it's time to wrap. Our newspaper has a wrapping paper contest in the local elementary schools and prints a full-size page with the winning pattern. At least some of my pressies will be wrapped in that.

Just finished also.......House is trashed but, I am finally ready.

Everyone in my family gets their stuff in car part boxes.
(Something that has been the subject of curiosity in years past)

Some jewelry for Mom in a Carbotech box.
Stuff for Dad in an old SU fuel pump box.
My brother got both of my Carrera shock-boxes.
This will be the first Christmas with my new sister-in-law (She got the special Pinto rotor box)
Most everything else says Moss Motors on the address label.

Hence the reason for 6 boxes around one gift... hehehehehe... makes it "peek-proof". /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
