I notice in Larry's (SCGuy) post about his bea-u-ti-ful TR8 being delivered and smogged that the car was parked in a special booth where a gorgeous gal helped with the paperwork and the expectant fathers all sat around nervously waiting for the results. Almost like the delivery room at General.
Here in Louisiana there is no such thing. To get my TR6 "inspected", once a year I drive over to Gaudet's Gas Station where Gaudet sits outside on a bench seat retrieved from a wrecked Suburban, along with his very old yellow lab and Father Landry, also very old and retired.
I drive up, don't even turn off the ignition, holler <u>"Gaudet"</u> real loud and Eric lumbers over with a fresh inspection sticker. The word inspection is used loosely here. Mostly refers to Eric's comments about my car "looking good".
I remember when I first had this TR6 inspected from Gaudet I didn't have any lights installed, much less a windshield. I promised Gaudet I would stick it on myself when I got the glass in. I did. I also took the backroad to Gaudet's to avoid any Sheriff's deputy hollering at me about no brake lights.
Takes all of 5 minutes, longer if I stay and talk to Father Landry or pet the dog.
Oh, to have an Inspection Babe like in Larry's post. On the other hand, I don't have to sweat passing inspection over here, unless it's hot outside.
