on my car there was a RB310 regulator(3 connector) with a generator light indicator.i replaced it with a rb340 (5 connector),this i found out later.i bought the regulator and generator for one of those peole who is still in the business of hands on not box opening.i even paid the 1960's price on the items.

the main difference i found from installing the rb340 is that the rb340 use an gauge instead of a indicator light, and it needs an external gound because of the rubber mounting stand off's. without the ground nothing works.so on instaliing, the indicator is connected the D post(generator) ,the meter post is left open and a ground is run from the case to chassis

all seems to be runniging aok now ,around 13.6v output

i stand to be corrected .

"I stand to be corrected ".Yep! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif The RB340 has the capability to handle both the guage and the indicator light.Glad you got it to work for you though.---Keoke /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/patriot.gif
