I've decided to convert from a generator to an alternator and I need some help on the electrical part. I did purchase the dummy voltage regulator box, but I'm a little lost on the relocation of the wires. If anybody out there has the generator to alternator conversion for dummies I'd appreciate it. I work best with diagrams of how to position all the wires, etc. It's time to get my Healey back on the road for this summer driving. Thanks in advance. Jim

The conversion I made 20 years ago had no provision for mounting the coil. You will need to find a good place to relocate it. Not a big deal unless you have a conversion that maintains the old generator housing. I assume you have gone to negative ground. You could have taken your old voltage regulator, removed the coil solenoids, and just internally shunted across the terminals with a heavy gauge wire which is what I did. Its just cosmetic and keeps the firewall looking original. Its one of the best upgrades I ever did to my BJ8.

Yes you will need to relocate the coil if you’re using a regular alternator . Lots of ways to do it . Here’s how I did mine .
just made a bracket to fit on the new alternator mount so the coil sits above the alternator instead of the generator . Longer bolt needed for this .
