Generator re-build

I want to get my generator rebuilt. There is a local place that might do a decent job. Then there is this place in California (Star Auto Electric Company: https://starautoelectric.com/page1.php). Has anyone had any experience with their work?

Or, I could go with an alternator conversion, but am on the fence about that. Not that it isn't a good upgrade, but I'm not sure how far away from stock I want to go.

Thanks,
Dave

Dynalite converts old generators into alternators. They use the original casing to pass as new stock.

Star is very reputable and are really setup to do the job right. Our SoCal Austin Healey Association had a field trip there last year and we were all impressed with their dedication and knowledge. No financial interest - just an enthusiastic supporter.

Well Dave:since you are on the wrong coast :wink-new:
Why not go with Healey Surgeons in Mayland lots of experience there.

Thanks. I will contact Healey Surgeons. They are closer than Calif, and shipping that lump could get expensive

I meant to post this sooner, for those who may want to adventure into rebuilding their generator, or insofar as doing simple maintenance/replacing bearings or simple restoration. I prepared this as a matter of record years ago when my bearings needed replacing, etc., and didn't want to find any extra parts left over or major screw-ups upon reassembling. You will have to forgive my use of homemade nomenclature. But one can use as a reference for theirs [BJ8], if desired.
