Generator question

Is there any reason that I can use a generator set up for a mechanical tachometer in a car with an electrical tachometer ( Specifically, a new Bugeye generator in a 1966 Sprite) ?Is there anything special I need to do to use it? End cap of some sort?

As long as it fits no physical reason you can't You'll need to make sure youre using a pulley that lines up with the others. And I would say put a cap of some kind on the end to keep dirt from entering the tach connection end. Be aware though that it may not have enough juice to power everything on the car, I ran across a reference to those early type being 22amps where the later is 30.

There's no problem in using an electronic tach with the older, tach-drive generator. Yes, it's probably worthwhile to find some kind of cap to cover the hole, just to prevent one possible route for dirt getting into the rear bearing. But there are other routes for dirt to get into it, so I'm not sure it matters a lot.
