Generator Bearing

I am doing a cleaning/painting of the generator on my 62 BT7. The front bearing seems very free and quiet but there is a ton of grease/dirt all over the front endplate where the bearing sits. My question is if this bearing is sealed. I need to clean but do not know if I will flush bearing grease out of the bearing. If I do, flush the end with a degreaser, do I need to re oil this bearing?

The manual states for generator maintenance, "every 3000 miles inject a few drops of medium viscosity (SAE 30) engine oil into the hole marked "oil" at the end of the bearing housing."
