General engine question

I was talking to my cousin today and told him I got the Gt6 started. I told him I did not have a transmission installed when I started the engine. He said that if you run a engine with "no load" it can spin a barring. I dont beleve this. I have started many engines on stands with nothing hooked to them and let them idel before installing them to make sure everything was good to go. Never had a problem. To me its the same as the car in neutral. What do you guys think?

Ask your cousin if he shuts his engine off for every shift.

Did he ever start a car in neutral?

Never believe your cousins. Uncles, maybe, but never a cousin. He's probably still jealous of you, from since you were kids and the GT6 doesn't help either.

Thats what I thought, Just feels good when car guys tell you so!

Besides he is a Ford guy!
