Went to install the clutch and gearbox today and am delayed by not ordering a new spigot bush which will be required. Anyways while installing new gearbox mounts I noticed that one is larger than the other. Upon further investigation I also noted that the brackets which they attach to are not symetric. Both gearbox mounts are the same part number, and the catalogue does not specify a difference of right side/left side mounts. This could be a matter of inconsistent manufacture. Does it matter which side the larger mount is installed or am I just overthinking this situation?

I just installed the gearbox mounts on a non-overdrive 73 TR6. They were from TRF and both the same size. The only problem I had with theirs was they had metric threads. Luckily I had some metric nuts laying about.

If it were me, I would check back with the supplier and get a matched set. But, if they are the same height, more then likely they should work, in which case I would place the larger diameter one on the left side (as the engine torques it lifts this side).

Not quite sure what you mean by the brackets not being symmetric.
 
Sorry, I did not see your response till tonight. What I mean by not symmetric is that the measurements from the bracket attached to the rear of the gearbox (to where the rubber mounts attach to) to the prop shaft bracket (on the output shaft to where the prop shaft attaches) are not equil. This causes me to be suspicious as to whether there should be two different mounts to level out the rear of the gearbox. Anyways, i gonna order one more mount, and match it as closely as possibe to either one and proceed. Thanks so much for your response

I ordered two #58s or 810-060 from a Moss supplier. These are the two round rubber mounts from gearbox to crossmember. Thanks for info.
