I recently replaced the oil seal in the gear box on my BJ7. As I pulled the steering shaft out of the tube I noticed that two rubber bands approx. .5 inches in width had detached themselves from the shaft and were deposited in the gear box. Where do these bands go on the shaft?

Hi Ray, the rubber bands fit just about in the center of the shaft. However, if they do not fit tighly they will not stay in place.---Keoke
