Am I the only one that has ever dropped the filler cap to the gear box on a MGTD when servicing it ? I have done it twice now and had to remove the bellhousing cover to get it out, plus the carpet and padding. look's like MG would have left a bigger hole to get your fingers in to reach the filler plug. what a pain in the a$$ job.
You can't use a magnet because the cap is made of alum./ brass ? I think if I ever have to remove it again I will drill a hole in the cap and install a small piece of wire in it. what do you folks use ?
AHH, I feel better already.

Confession is good for the soul :ROFLMAO:

Would maybe cut a larger hole in the tunnel and fab a larger cover.
Many of these caps have a breather hole in them, so would not drill extra holes.

Grantura,
I think I will try and cut a larger hole the next time, if there is a next time :( . thanks for the input.
Beautiful car you have there.

Not mine, but thank you. The Mercedes had been standing in a garage for 20 odd years and needed recommissioning.
Was a rather large job.
Good luck with your cap issue.
