Gauge manufacturers what's right?

On my 1972 TR6 all the gauges but one is a Smiths. The one that is different is the amp gauge and it is a Lucas. Is this typical or correct?

Also, I need to clean the inside of the glass on the tach, I know this has been covered but how do you separate the glass from the gauge.

I believe this is typical,my 72 is the same, but I do not know the answer to this triva question.Why is only the amp guage Lucas?

You are correct, on the TR3 the AMP guage is Lucas, however the others are all Jaeger.
 
Right you are; BTW those Lucas AMP guages for TR3's are not easy to find. They apparently are no longer made and can be a little pricey on ebay when you need one quickly. I kept my old one but was convinced to not try to repair it.

I presume...
regular gauges = Smiths
Electrical gauge = Lucas (pre-charged with smoke)
 
I always wondered if it wasn't just a clever little bit of marketing (or even an inside joke) to "brand" the ammeter as Lucas, while other gauges were Smiths or Jaeger, especially since the gauges appear to be identical in all other respects (leading one to believe that they were all made in the same factory). As I recall, though, Lucas eventually absorbed Smiths into the company.
