T-Series Gauge Light Dimmer switch thingy

Noticed tonight while driving home that the gauges were barely illuminated. turned the knob that brightens them all the way up but they are still very dim. Is my switch broken, i checked the fuses and they were all good and i also checked the connections and they seemed fine. When I drove the car the other night I didn't have this problem!

Switch does wear out over time. They can be "rebuilt" but unless you really like to tinker, you can get a new one. When I redid the dashes in both my cars, I removed the switch altogether and spliced the wires together.

Personally, I've always thought of this switch as a "dimmer" in name only; lights never seemed to get bright enough to need dimming.

You might want to try cleaning the grounds and bulb sockets on the gauges. It's free but can be murder on your hands trying to reach under that dash.

Your first try should be to jumper the dimmer to see if the lights really do get brighter. If they do, leave it bypassed. if not, you may be looking at a bad ground or changing bulbs.
