TR2/3/3A Gas tank cover in cockpit area

Hi All,
How and where do you attach the gas tank cover to the floor in the cockpit area for a smallmouth TR3? See photo. How do you handle the two cut-out notches in the bottom of the gas tank cover? Does the carpet go under or over the bottom of the gas tank cover? I do not have a rear seat in the car. Thanks for your help.

Mine did not have the notches. In about the area of your notches, I had a metal tab attached to the board. Those tabs were each screwed to the floor with one screw. Give me a few minutes and I'll upload a pic...

Here it is....

Mine appeared original and had the same flat sheet metal tabs as John showed above.

John and Pat - Thanks for the answers. My 1959 (wide-mouth)TR3A also has the tabs as you describe. However, the cockpit cover that Moss sells for the small-mouth TR3 has the cut-outs. (For info, their TR2 cover does not have the cut-outs). I have been told that Moss is wrong requarding their small-moth TR3 cover??? I need to find a good small-mouth TR3 to look at.
