garden trains

This has nothing to do with cars, automobile types anyway.

My wife, Shirley, and I have another hobby which is Garden Railroading. Hence my handle, mdlrr, which is my abbreviation for Model Railroading.

The reason for bringing this up is that on the 21st and 22nd of February we will be running one of our trains at the Mitchell Park Domes in Milwaukee Wisconsin. We donate our time for this and the show is the biggest fund raiser the Domes has. The time will be from 9am to 5pm both days. Just be aware that it takes a while to get our 100 foot long circus train ready to run and pack it up to go home. So, maybe after 10:30am on the 21st and before 3:30pm on the 22nd would work best.

We would love to see anyone that might be able to make it and talk trains and/or cars.

A pic from last year.

Oh, man....my grandson Will would love that.....

I'd love to see it too.But it's a little bit far away.
Having a garden railway used to be a dream of mine Tom.

Never heard of a Garden railroad before.

But I sure like trains and sure like gardening.
Together they are awesome.

Would like to visit, but you're a long ways off,
Tom.
Looks like you're on the right track to having
fun.

Car, cars and more cars.

Tom,
I look at the Garden stuff every time I go to a train show. I need to convince my next door neighbor to sell me the 40x120 lot that he mows each week, but never does anything with any more. It would give me enough room to start another hobby that I don't need with a Garden Railroad.

I enjoyed the one at the Germany Exhibit at Epcot when we visited earlier this month. And I have seen some great ones with waterfalls and bridges at other sites as well. I might find I am better at constructing the houses for these than for my HO slot car layout where my eyesight and building skills make the job pretty difficult sometimes.

I won't make it to your display, but hope we see photos later. Enjoy!

Thanks for the comments!

Hi Steve, That would be great! We stayed with some friends on Robinwood St last Thursday evening. Trains in their yard and an extensive layout in the basement. There are at least 4 garden railroads within a few blocks of your place.

Dave, I know the person that started that magazine. I also know several of the advertisers in it. I went to this size because I wanted to have trains large enough that I did not have to tie a string to them just to find them again.

We have much fun and meet many people with our trains. Much better than just having them in the basement.
