Garage Lifts

New to the forum and my very first post. Subject has to do with personal garage system lifts. I'm trying to solve my parking problem and turn a two car garage in to at least a three car garage (or even four). One solution is to "go up" and install a lift system for storage in the garage. I was wondering if anyone has any comments on these types of personal use garage lift systems. Things to look for, stay away from, are they safe to use, or just comments in general. Currently I am looking at a four post system called Backyard Buddy. Does anyone out there have one of these already and care to share their experience?

WHOA! Yeah, it does!

I have a 4-post lift and found it is a great tool. I seldom use it for storage, often use it for maintenance, so it is up & down a lot.

Mine is an inexpensive model from Eagle, very similar I expect to the bottom of the line models available from several companies. The big change in recent years has been the 'Global Sourcing' (read: Made in China) though so far (had it a bit more than a year) I have had no quality issues.

What I have:

Shipping to you would likely be cheap as I recall they are in NC (even the shipping to Tucson was only $200 FedEx).

Here is the manual in case you need some specifics to assess fit, etc:

Did it come with that Ca. glow?

Geo, what is the height of your garage ceiling?

9' 10" -- I can take the TRs (with windscreens on) up to the next to last stop on the posts, which is the ideal working height for me. Raised the door opener and door tracks a few inches to gain some extra space (tracks were moved a bit beyond 90 degrees, door doesn't seem to mind).

Welcome to "The" Forum. Good to have another wedge head. Yours being the best and most collectable of the breed.

I'm <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">really</span></span> jealous of you guys and your 10-foot ceilings!

Lol...Yes...Yes Randy, Mickey, and Don it should look familiar. I'm sure you've seen it a time or two. Now you see what happens when you think with your heart (and happen to see a For Sale add on the Forum) and not with your head. You end up with no garage space and asking for suggestions for a fix on the forums!

Thanks for all the advice/suggestions on garage lifts that everyone has offered. I'll continue my research on them and will check out the other forums suggested and the links that evryone has provided.

I'm happy to report that the bordeaux red TR8 from Larry in CA arrived about three weeks ago and it now occupies the M3's spot in the garage. I look forward to many years of enjoyment with all my wedges. Keep 'em on the road and motor on!

Yes Doug I am planning on attending the Williamsburg show in May. I am not sure which wedge I'll be bringing though. I will make an entry on the "New Memebers" forum like you suggested too. Hope to see/meet you in Williamsburg in a couple of months.

I'll be listening for the "Hi" Don. More than welcome to stop by for a visit if traveling on I-64....I'm less then a mile off the interstate, 15 mins from Busch Gardens. Stop by and I'll fire up the BBQ for lunch!
