I was putting the cap back on the distributor. The bottom clip came off, I can't find it.

It's a topless day today and I NEED to drive her.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
 
Look closely. They don't come off easily....but they can sorta spring back and kinda get stuck back under the dizzy. Makes 'em hard to see...and you think they flew off. Then you spend time hunting for the clip, cussing all the time, then you find it still connected and just flipped under. BTDT!

If somehow it did vanish, does binabox have the same dizzy?
 
Nope, it's completely OFF!

I don't know about Binabox, because I'd have to dig through a few boxes to even FIND the distributor.
 
If it isn't on the floor, it's gotta be under the bonnet somewhere. Grab a flashlight and look along the top of the frame rail, on top of the starter, etc. It can't just vanish. Can it?
 
I know! I've been out there looking for it for 10 minutes.

But never fear, I'm not letting a little clip stop me.

If it's stuck and shouldn't be, WD40

Keep looking for it. If the binabox has an original dizy the clip wont fit and finding replacement clips to the 45d4 dizys are just about imposible. It's got to be in there somewhere.
 
Yup. Betwixt the starter and block. "Fishin' magnet" may help.

I've seldom had parts fall "up," so it's gotta be there... or dead centre under the car. All fallen/dropped parts immediately migrate to the least accessable place under the car.
 
Use a flashlight and one of those extendable magnet pen things. Look all through the fram rails, that bottom edge of the engine block, and your front crossmember and suspension. You'll find it. May take you awhile, but you'll find it!
 
Find an old coat hanger and run it back & fourth behind the starter. It could be stuck back there. Another favorite location for parts that like to play hide & seek is in the little spot by the firewall and the frame. Locate the cross member bolts and follow them back towards the firewall.

The duct tape worked perfectly. As soon as I got it all taped up I found the bloody clip. Got the clip on.

All's good, right?

Don't sweat it Janel. I once took a laptop apart, fixed the problem and put it all back together and had only three large parts left over. It worked great too! :smile: Jack
