From the current TRA newsletter, page 10. TR2 owner Jeff Kelley is asked about his Best of Show 1954 TR2:

"Q: When you rescued the car from the [neighbor's] back yard, what color was it?

A: The car had a "fuzzy" red exterior with black interior. What I mean by fuzzy is that a previous owner had flocked the entire exterior of the car. Maybe that is how the car survived the 60s without being scrapped."

His TR by the way is now Ice Blue (original color per the Heritage certificate).

fads: they come, they go.

Amazing the car didn't rot away. You would think the flocking would retain a lot of moisture.

I picked up an HO slot car, a fairly rare Bachmann Howmet Turbine, that a previous owner had also done in red flocking. No idea why, but the chrome parts were in better than normal condition for the norm of this model. And I got it really cheap since no one else was interested...

But we must keep wondering why. I must have been owned by this guy!

The only place I would drive that thing would be a Jimmy Buffett concert. I'd have to put the top up and have heavily tinted windows for the drive.
