fuse box

Charlie Hart makes a 6-fuser that screws into the normal holes and uses glass fuses:

He just came out with one for a BJ8. The BJ8's are different due to the side the green wires exit. I've been working with Charlie on this item and he sent me one which in turn I sent to a guy to install and take photos and send them to Charlie so Charlie may have photo's for you to see by now.

looking to put in a bigger fusr box on my 3000 bj8 any suggestions

If you can locate a Volvo 544 or a dealer that supporte the older cars they have one that works a treat .I have been using them in my BJ8's for years.

Charlie's fuse box has 7 fuses, not 6 as I previously stated. Patrick - the only info I could find is your paper on Healey6.com: https://www.healey6.com/Technical/BJ8 Fuse Block.pdf
Is Charlie now making a version with a cover for the BJ8?

This Volvo fuse block - does it use Bosch torpedo-type fuses?

The 7 fuses and my entry to Johns website was before Charlies BJ8 "6 Fuse block came out". I guess it needs updated but I don't know if Charlie received Photos, etc., from the guy I sent the BJ8 Fuse block too for evaluation. I'll see what I can find out this week and see if we can get it updated. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

BTW, I'm not sure where the completed engine photo came from with the original style Fuse Block but it's not mine. Mine will be completed in the next few months and I will post photos with all the mods, etc.

Patrick, looking at the lower pic I'd say the fuse box needs to be turned around so the single connection, being the brown wire, will be on the right side and serve all the "greenies" which would be on the left side.:friendly_wink:

Johnny, The "greenies" are served by the "white" wires which only get power when the ignition switch is turned on(they are accessory circuits). The "Brownies" are always "hot" from battery power and supply power all the time to the purple wired "hornies". I have not powered up the circuits yet as I'm still hooking things up but I believe I'm correct and I worked from Charlie Harts diagrams, etc. I do appreciate comments because it's easier and cheaper to correct something now than after the fire.

I've attached a colorful wiring diagram of the Fuse Block and the Ignition Switch.
