Fuel tank gasket

I removed the fuel tank to do some repairs in the trunk and ordered a new mounting gasket from Moss (021-806). It arrived today and I noticed that it has a bevel shape to it. One of the longer parts of the rectangle is thicker than the corresponding one. My questing is ... which direction should it be mounted? I am guessing the thicker portion goes toward the rear of the car but I need some help.

Thanks in advence.

Not sure on this, but the forward mounts for the tank are "fixed" where the metal strap attaches and the rear attaching points go through the floorboard and the strap has a threaded studd on it and are tightened/snugged up, by two jamb nuts. The gasket being thicker would be better in the front mount and the thinner would be better in the rear where it would be compressed.

Just finished installing my tank.

Patrick,
You were right, the thick part goes to the front of the car. I call Moss (and talked to John who was very helpful) and he sent me a .pdf that they had for installing the complete new tanks and it showed very clearly the proper mounting. Thanks for your input and to John at Moss.

Frank,

any chance you could send me the PDf? I am just about to install a new tank in my BJ8 but the previous owner install a non AH tank (its tall and upright, rather than low and thin)and all the fixings and straps are removed.
