took off rear wheel and got to the fuel pump. thanks guys.turned key to on position and heard nothing.then i hooked a test light to the leads and it has power.if the fuel system is pressurized now does it constantly run?(or click)

bobby, if that car has not been run since you have indicated and you have juice to the pump with no clicking then just take out the pump and bench check it, Ive owned healeys that always clicked/run and some that did the same only when required to do so. i.e when pressure was needed while driving ,you cant always hear it /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/savewave.gif

Hi Bobby, If the fuel system is pressurised the SU pump may click at a very slow rate. Constant clicking generally indicates there is an air leak on the input side of the pump. OTOH, if a needle valve is stuck open a carb can be flooding and the pump will continue to click. If it does not click whack! it with a heavy plastic handled screwdriver and see if it starts. Also go back and read my last post to your earlier question.---Keoke

thanks ANTHONY,i'm going to take off the fuel line at the carbs and see if i can't get her to run.

And I always thought the knock off hammer was supposed to be used when wacking the fuel pump!
