Fuel Pump / Rough Shut Off .....

I recently replaced the mechanical fuel pump with an electronic one (cheaper and more reliable than original). I ran the power to the fuse box to a connector that turns on / off with the key.

In turning the car off after a brief drive -- the car runs / knocks / dies for about 30 seconds. I think it must be related to the pump installation. Any idea's to have it shut off normally and smoothly /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif??

Most of the car is original -- positive ground for one.

sounds like dieseling. Is your pressure regulator before the carbs appropriate for your electric fuel pump and in proper working order? Are your carbs set too lean? are you running platinum spark plugs? I would think regardless of the fuel pump situation, you'd need some heat or spark in your combustion chambers to keep turning over that long, so I'm inclined to say you've got other issues....
